MiHR is seeking input on reformatting the current Diamond Driller NOS into a Driller NOS which would include the various drilling disciples used in the sector – diamond, rotary, sonic, etc. The information you provide in this survey will remain confidential.
The Mining Industry Human Resources Council (MiHR) is an independent, non-profit organization that leads collaboration among mining and exploration companies, organized labour, contractors, educational institutions, industry associations and Indigenous groups to identify and address the human resource and labour market challenges facing the Canadian minerals and metals sector.
A key component of the Council’s work is the development and maintenance of National Occupational Standards (NOS) for important occupations in the mining industry, including the Diamond Driller NOS which is done in partnership with the Canadian Diamond Driller Association (CDDA).
National Occupational Standards establish clear, objective benchmarks of the skills and knowledge required for workers to perform in a particular occupation. In other words, they list the competencies a fully experienced worker can perform on the job.
Both MiHR and the CDDA are looking for subject matter experts to participate as a member of a NOS Development Committee to provide expertise in updating the NOS to reflect the revised format and reflect any changes to the skills and competencies in the drilling occupation, particularly as a result of technology.
