The Canadian Diamond Drilling Association is pleased to announce the dates and location for the 2024 Annual General Meeting and Convention. The members voted and the event is scheduled to take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia from May 5-7, 2024. Our AGM and Convention is the premier gathering of professionals in the diamond drilling industry. The Canadian Diamond Drilling Association is gearing up for its 2024 Overburden Golf Tournament. This member-favorited event is slated to take place on June 18, with Breakfast and lunch buffet. Golfers will tee off at 10:00 am, with a shotgun start ensuring everyone begins at the same time. This tournament promises to be a great opportunity for our members to network and socialize, all while enjoying a fun day out on the golf course. The Canadian Diamond Drilling Association will host our Western Safety and Technical Meeting November 22, 2024 at Sandman Hotel, Saskatoon. Our Safety and Technical Chair of this event will be Gerry Cooke, Canadian Diamond Drilling Association Board Member. Gerry Cooke started his career with Boart Longyear working on the diamond drills for five years. He moved into the construction industry in Saskatoon, later taking a supervisory position overseeing the building of scaffold systems as well as all facets of construction. An opportunity presented itself in health and safety, a direction he wanted to move in and in 2016 received designations as a NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) as well as a RSO (Radiation Safety Officer). Gerry is currently working for Team Drilling based out of Saskatoon in the role of Health Safety and Environment. This event will be offered in-person and virtually. The Curling Tournament in North Bay on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024, at the North Bay Granite Curling Club has been postponed. Date to be announced soon.
The Canadian Diamond Drilling Association will host our Eastern Safety and Technical Meeting on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at ICAMP. Our official host sponsor of this event is ICAMP. At this event, along with safety and technical presentations, ICAMP will provide a tour of their 13,300 sq. ft. of industrial laboratory space and design space. Functioning as both a technology showcase and working laboratory, the Centre houses various multi-use facilities supporting training and demonstrations as well as secure working space for proprietary product development. Our Safety and Technical Chair of this event will be Chris Drenth, Canadian Diamond Drilling Association Board Member. Chris Drenth, Engineering Director for Performance Tooling at Boart Longyear, has over 29 years of experience in mineral exploration drill rod and wireline tooling safety and productivity. He is an inventor named in more than 30 patents and has received numerous awards for his technical expertise and innovation.
